Buying any RV is an exciting but stressful situation. It is very easy to become a deer in the headlights-especially if this is your first Avion, and your first vintage RV.
Below is a LINK to our PDF Checklist of tips on how to inspect and what to look for when looking at an Avion travel trailer. Many of the same tips also apply to slide in truck campers, and driveables (class C and A’s), etc.
A FEW BASIC RULES:
>Be sure you can see the RV when it is hooked up to a power source (campsite hookup, generator, etc.) so you can faithfully test all systems.
>Try very hard to overlook the flash and bling of a newly “remodeled, freshly repainted” interiors. TOO many times this is done for aesthetics and can hide a myriad of sins that are underneath.
>Don’t hesitate to move things out of the way, lift mattresses and cushions, open cabinets, closets fully, open exterior storage doors, refrigerator and furnace service panels.
>Spend as much time as YOU want inspecting, sitting in, walking around, under, over and inside the rig. Do not let a pushy sales person or private owner limit your time. Its your money…not theirs!
