This is part of a regular RV maintenance check list. It should be done AT LEAST annually. Even for part time RV Use.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

-access to fresh water supply

-POTABLE fresh water hose with narrow tube style sprayer wand attached. (Camco sells)

-New anode rod, pet your hot water heater brand specs. (Camco sells a better product than import knock offs like sold on Amazon).

-30% Vinegar, 1/2 gallon for every gallon capacity of your hot water heater. (We bought our vinegar at Lowes. Regular supermarkets do not carry strong enough %)

Ours is an Atwood 6 gallon, so we used 3 gallons of the 30% Vinegar and 3 gallons of water-thus filling the capacity of the hot water tank.

Top shows new and 9 month old corroded one is on right. All from minerals naturally found, especially in hard water!

STEPS TO DO- ONLY TAKES MINUTES!

As part of at least annual maintenance, a full overnight treatment and flush out of your hot water tank is critical. Keeping sediment from building up prevents or at least will delay a failure of your hot water tank.

Review this video for tips and how to!

How long has it been since you at least pulled out and checked your hot water heater anode rod?

As full timers and traveling in many parts of the USA and Canada we plan to check at least the anode rod every 6 months and continue to do this full flush with the 30% Vinegar annually or as needed.

Happy camping!

Hi Luise & Kevin: We have a Avion 30P 1988. When we purchased the trailer it only had shreds of the patio awning remaining. I have tried to research the dimensions of the fabric needs and have been unable to ascertain the extension measurement. Average is apparently between 10โ€™ to 12โ€™. Can you help me narrow this down?

    1. Hi Ruth!
      Thanks for your question.
Does the hardware still exist on the sides of the trailer? If so, is it the Zipdee hardware or other brand? Measure the roller bar for your awning width using that. As to the length it needs to be rolled out, thst may depend on brand. If a Zipdee brand we highly recommend you call them directly. They have files specific for many years and models of Avions in their archives and can let you know. If the weather ever breaks here we will roll ours out and measure that length for you. Feel free to email us directly at pewterpalace87@gmail.com too for fastest responses.

    2. We also have several friends who own your model and I will reach out to them to see if they have their patio awning dimensions handy! Stay tuned!
